Concerns or complaints should be expressed in the first instance to your lecturer. If no resolution is forthcoming then the issue should be brought to the attention of the class representatives who will take the concerns to the class representative meetings. Thereafter problems are dealt with by the Chairperson of the Department and if still unresolved the Dean and then ultimately the Vice Chancellor.
All practicals and the tests are considered individual exercises and anything you hand in for these must be your own work. If you claim authorship of any work for assessment which is not your own you are in breach of the University regulations. Any such breach will be treated seriously: you will receive no marks for the work and the Statistics Department reserves the right to refer the matter on for further disciplinary action. (See the University Calendar 2003 Assessment Regulations, p101). You may discuss a practical in general terms with other students, but the actual work must be your own. Where appropriate, students are responsible for protecting their intellectual property, including computer files and printed material.
