I graduated from Waikato with a MCMS in 1995. In 1996 I commenced employment with Agriculture Victoria
based at the Victorian Institute for Dryland Agriculture in Horsham (Vic, Aust.)
employed as a biometrician. The majority of work involved assisting scientists
with plant breeding trials - oilseeds, legumes, wheat and barley. In 1998 I
began employment with the Northern Territory Department of Primary Industry and
Fisheries, again employed as a biometrician. The work was much more diverse
with topics ranging from buffalo breeding to mudcrab abundance, mango trials to
cattle diseases.
After nearly five years, and Australia winning all the major rugby
trophies it was time to return home.
My PhD is being supervised by Nye John and David Whitaker. We will be trying to obtain a class of row-column designs with the flexibility and advantages of alpha-designs, and finding tighter upper bounds on the average efficiency factor for latinized, spatial and row-column designs.
Outside interests include playing rugby, tramping, diving and the taste of a cold lager.
