Western EcoSystems Technology Inc, Laramie, Wyoming, USA 2003-02-10 Room KG.11 (K block, ground floor) I’ll give a little bit of theory about estimation, and then present a case study involving the assessment of forestry on northern spotted owls in the state of Washington. It involves a difficult selection of variables problem, the (non-standard) use of logistic regression to estimate a function giving the probability that a potential owl nest site is actually used, the use of standard forestry GIS methods to predict the landscape in the next 50 years, and hence the prediction of the carrying capacity for northern spotted owl nest sites. |
